What to Expect

Your experience starts with your driver picking you up and drive you to Lycabettus Hill where you will admire the spectacular panoramic view of Athens all the way to the Saronic gulf.

The next stop of this amazing Athens private tour is UNESCO-listed monument, Acropolis. Acropolis hosts the masterpiece temples of Parthenon, Propylaea, Erechteion, Athena Nike, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the Dionysus Theatre.

Upon exit from the sacred hill of Acropolis, you walk up the steep Areios Pagos rock just as Apostle Paul did and preached Christ’s word for the first time in Greece.

You will stroll by the gigantic temple of Zeus and the Arch of Adrian, the Panathenaic Stadium that hosted the first modern Olympic games in 1896, the Greek Neoclassic Parliament and the Changing of the Guards and the Athens Trilogy with the impressive Doric and Ionic columns, the statues of Athena goddess and Prometheus.

We can drop you off and finish this amazing private tour by strolling to the picturesque alleys of Plaka old city, which takes you back to when Athens was just a small village under the Acropolis! Alternatively, we can drop you off at your hotel after Athens Trilogy.

Lycabettus hill

Beginning the Athens half-day tour you have the chance to admire the magnificent panorama of the city from Lycabettus hill at 745 ft. (277 m). Lycabettus stands high above Athens, commanding a clear view across the Attica basin and the Aegean.

Acropolis

Acropolis, a UNESCO Monument of World Heritage and a symbol of democracy and Greek civilization. It includes four of the greatest masterpieces of classical Greek art – the Parthenon (Temple , dedicated to the goddess Athena) , the Propylaea (the monumental gateway to the Acropolis), the Erechthio (Temple dedicated to both Athena and Poseidon) and the Temple of Athena Nike(Victorious in Greek).

Temple of Olympian Zeus

Continuing our Athens Tour you will admire the gigantic Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Adrian’s Arch. The Temple was designed to be the biggest temple in ancient time.

Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro)

The only stadium in the world built entirely of marble. The Stadium hosted the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.

Parliament and the Change of Guards

You will see the impressive shift change of the traditionally dressed guards (evzones) in front of the Greek parliament and the Marble Tomb of the Unknown soldier. From there, you visit the Athens Trilogy, the Academy of Athens, the University and the National Library, wonderful neoclassical buildings.

Athenian Trilogy

Athenian Trilogy, the three elegant buildings on Panepistimiou Street, was designed in the mid-19th century by the Danish Hansen brothers and completed years later with the help of Greek benefactors and donors. The three buildings are:

The Athens University, the first of the three buildings to be constructed, in 1864

The Academy of Athens, inspired by the Propylaea of the Acropolis and by Aeschylus’ tragedy Prometheus Bound

The National Library is home to an impressive body of knowledge, including the first printed book in the Greek language from 1476.

Plaka

We can drop you off at the end of your tour at Plaka to visit the ancient neighbourhood of Athens around Acropolis. Plaka is full of people, music, typical restaurants “tavernas”, beautiful houses, cosy cafes and little shops with souvenirs.
