He was on time, very knowledgable about historical sites, so he gave a lot context that we wouldn't have if we had driven ourselves. He also took us to some great spots that we werent aware of and some amazing restaurants on our way back from the day trip. Ask for Jimmy if you can get him. If not, you will be in good hands regardless, we will for sure be booking with this company when we come back with our kids.

The Meteora Monasteries Tour from Athens a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a unique area in Greece, and quite possibly the world.
Meteora area is a dramatic rock formation in central Greece, hosting one of the largest and most precipitously built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries, second in importance only to Mount Athos.
Our trip, besides the extraordinary Meteora Monasteries, visits Thermopylae Monument (Where Leonidas Spartan King and his 300 fell) and Kammena Vourla seaside village for a Greek coffee (or other beverages) experience before your drop off in Athens.
Your Hotel, Athens Airport , Piraeus Port

There are six monasteries on Meteora: Great Meteoron, Varlaam, Roussanou, Agios Stefanos, Holy Trinity and St. Nikolaos. You will visit 2 or 3 of the Meteora monasteries, depending on the day and time we are visiting. If you would like to visit all 6 monasteries you would need to spend at least 2 days in Meteora.
Meteora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1989 and an official holy place for Greece since 1995. Meteora monasteries date from the 14th century and are unique in the world because of the amazing treasure of Byzantine and Christian items you can witness. Items such as the classic attire of the monks, wall paintings, etched glass, religious treasures, icons and libraries rich in old manuscripts. Most of them were built in the 1500s.
In 1981 Jame’s Bond film ‘For Your Eyes Only’ was partially filmed in the Monastery of Holy Trinity.
Tyrion of ‘Game of Thrones’ while hanging at the edge of the cliff, you can see in the background the overwhelming rocks of Meteora.
There is a 3 euro fee to enter each of the monasteries and proper attire is required. Women must wear skirts below the knees though in some monasteries these are provided for women in shorts or slacks. Men’s arms must be covered and they must wear long pants.
Kalambaka is a respectable destination in its own right, with unquestionably enough attractions to draw a visitor. Kalambaka is nestled at the foot of the Meteora district, characterised by its main street with traditional and family-run taverns where you can have your lunch.
Kalambaka was an important settlement during the Byzantine Empire and there are two churches from that time, St John the Baptist and Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, consecrated in the 11th century.
Souvenir shops in the town sell local handmade embroidery, leather sandals and carved wooden handicrafts.
Returning to Athens, we will make a stop at Thermopylae and Museum the battlefield of 300 Spartans against the immortal soldier elites of the Persian empire. There we can see also the statue of Leonidas, king of Sparta as a memorial of the battle.
Our final stop is at Kammena Vourla seaside village where we will offer you, our courtesy, an afternoon coffee or tea by the sea.
Full of beautiful and memorable experiences, we head back to Athens to your residence or airport drop off.
